Below is a short introduction to the technologies that we are working with.

Mobile Homepages and web apps

Quedrio’s Content Management System (CMS) for Mobile homepages is named Mobiego. The Mobiego system relays on a terminal database with thousands of different mobile phone models that is used to adapt every page to the mobile phone that views it. The page might look totally different and contain different functionality depending on if the user got e.g. an iPhone, an Android or an older mobile phone with a browser that lacks the features of newer browsers – the page will be shown in the optimal way in all mobile phones.

Mobiego is optimized for gathering data for the mobile page from other databases since no one want to update the same information in several places and the information on the mobile page in most cases is a subset of the information on the ordinary webpage.

The mobile phone browsers have developed much during the last few years and the browsers of most smart phones today actually offer similar possibilities and functionalities that most web browsers for computers do. Mobiego has built-in support for HTML5 and CSS3 that is used to take advantage of those possibilities and by doing so it is possible to develop mobile web applications, so called Web-apps.

The web app can have about the same functionality as a “native app” (see below) and also be made available in e.g. App Store. Since web apps are supported by both iPhone and Android, amongs others, most of the code can be reused for the different platforms and therefore resulting in a substancial cost reduction compared to the development of seperate native applications for all the different platforms.


Messaging

Besides ordinary voice call, SMS is the oldest mobile service and still the most widely used one. Quedro’s messaging platform, Mobidove, got an API that makes it simple to integrate the SMS-technology in any business system, homepage or other technical system. Mobidove also have web interfaces for manual operation and statistics.

Besides incoming and outgoing SMS the platform also supports the MMS technology and got special support for using the combination of SMS and Mobile Internet for sending out information that doesn’t fit into a SMS like images, forms and any other piece of information that can be presented in a mobile homepage. Native Apps

Talking about Apps, most people think about iPhone applications. Apps can however be developed for most operating systems and Google’s Android and Nokia’s Symbian both have a good infrastructure for apps development.

Quedro is working with all the big operating systems and we take care of the whole process when it comes to app development including planning, development and registration and launch in e.g. Appstore. In many cases we can reuse parts of applications that we have developed previous and that way make the development process more efficient.

In some cases the app can be developed as a “web app” built on the same technologies used in the web (see above). The advantage of doing so is that an web app is platform independent.


Mobile advertising system


Quedro has developed adTEN, one of the leading mobile advertising systems on the Scandinavian market, together with Ability MG Mobile AB. AdTEN gives publishers of mobile sites and applications the possibility to meet the demands of the advertisers and further increase the revenues from their mobile content. Various segmentations are possible to offer the advertiser, such as mobile operator, device model (phone), operating system and surf patterns.


Payments and Positioning

Quedro’s platforms also got support for payments via the mobile phone bill, i.e. Premium services. This is used for e.g. subscription services or for donating money to charity. Furthermore the platform has support for several types of geo-location positioning; via the mobile network, the GPS (if available) or through WiFi/IP-address. They all have different advantages and in most cases a combination is used to get the optimal solution, maximizing accuracy while minimizing the cost of the service.
